TUSCARAWAS COUNTY, Ohio – A motorcycle accident resulted in one fatality on State Route 39 at County Road 77 in Sugarcreek Township on October 6 at 10:37 a.m.
According to the Ohio Highway Patrol New Philadelphia Post, 26-year-old Marcus Miller of Sugarcreek was westbound on a black 2011 Kawasaki EX250 when he collided with a red 2016 Mazda CX-5 driven by 84-year-old Martha Egan of Dover.
Egan was making a left turn onto County Road 77 when the motorcycle struck the right side of her vehicle. Following the initial impact, Miller’s motorcycle traveled left of center and struck the front of a white 2023 Nissan Rogue driven by Tiffany Ervin, 49, of Coshocton.
Miller was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials indicated he was wearing a helmet and protective gear at the time of the crash.
Authorities confirmed that Egan was wearing a seatbelt and sustained no injuries. Both Ervin and her passenger were also wearing seatbelts, and no injuries were reported from the Nissan.
Emergency response involved the Sugarcreek Police Department, Sugarcreek Fire Department, Ohio Department of Transportation, Rosenberry Towing, and the Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
