Motorcycle Crash near Cody Claims One Life, Injures Another
CODY, Wyo. — A motorcycle accident on WY 296 resulted in one fatality and one injury at approximately 4:10 p.m. on Sept. 2.
The Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) reported the incident occurred around milepost 31.75, where the roadway features a steep grade and a sharp left curve. Bonnie Lara, 53, of Wyoming, was riding her Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound when she exited the travel lane, striking the guardrail.
Lara was pronounced deceased at the scene. She was not wearing a helmet during the crash. Another individual sustained injuries; however, authorities have not released their identity or condition.
WHP indicated that speed may have contributed to the incident. Road and weather conditions were reported as clear and dry at the time.
