TORRINGTON, Conn. (WFSB) – A series of motorcycle crashes across Connecticut from Friday to Monday morning resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries.
Crashes occurred in Torrington, Granby, Marlborough, and Manchester, all of which remain under investigation, according to authorities.
Crash Details
In Torrington, a motorcycle crash on Winsted Road on Saturday night hospitalized two individuals. Emergency services dispatched medical aid to the scene.
On Sunday night, a motorcyclist was seriously injured on Route 189 in Granby and airlifted to a hospital by Life Star, as reported by witnesses.
In Marlborough, also on Sunday morning, two individuals suffered burns after their motorcycle lost control and caught fire.
A Manchester motorcycle crash on Friday night tragically claimed one life, according to local authorities.
Dangerous Driving Period
The Connecticut Department of Transportation identifies the period from Memorial Day to Labor Day as the “100 Deadliest Days,” a time when motorcycle crashes increase significantly. More than 50 motorcyclists die in collisions annually in the state.
Safety Recommendations
Officials urge motorcyclists to wear helmets, ride with traffic, and verify lanes are clear when merging. Drivers are advised to monitor their blind spots regularly, as motorcycles can be hard to spot.
