One in critical condition following fatal motorcycle crash that claimed the life of a teenager.

UPDATE 1:52 P.M. 1/19 BRADENTON, Fla. — A 16-year-old was killed, and a 17-year-old is in critical condition following a motorcycle crash early Monday on State Road 70.

The incident occurred before 3:30 a.m. near Caruso Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP). The two teens were riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle when they allegedly ran a red light, leading to a collision with a sedan.

The 16-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 17-year-old was transported to HCA Florida Blake Hospital in critical condition, FHP reported. The sedan’s driver was taken to a local hospital and has since been released.

Eastbound lanes of State Road 70 were closed for several hours during the investigation but have since reopened. FHP and the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the crash.

UPDATE 6:50 A.M. 1/19 BRADENTON, Fla. — One teenager is dead and another is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries following a crash in Manatee County, according to FHP.

The motorcycle incident involved a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old around 3:30 a.m. on State Road 70. Eastbound lanes were closed as authorities continued their investigation.

Both FHP and Manatee County Sheriff’s Office deputies are present at the scene.
