SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – A motorcycle accident on West 11th Street claimed the life of one individual on Thursday evening.
At 6:40 p.m., police were dispatched to the 900 block of West 11th Street for a single-vehicle motorcycle crash.
The motorcyclist, traveling east, struck a curb, resulting in the vehicle and rider being thrown several feet. Emergency Medical Services and police arrived shortly after the crash and attempted life-saving measures, but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities confirmed that the rider was not wearing a helmet during the incident. Initial investigations indicate that speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.
The identity of the deceased has not been released pending family notification.
According to officials, streets in the vicinity have been closed from Grange Avenue to Walts Avenue for safety precautions.
