ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A serious motorcycle crash in Anchorage on April 18, 2014, left Mingo Graham paralyzed below the waist, but he has since rebuilt his life with Lego.
Graham was reportedly riding at 110 miles per hour when he collided with a pole, severely injuring his C6 vertebra. He spent months in a coma and endured extensive rehabilitation.
Rehabilitation Through Creativity
After eight months of isolation in a rehabilitation home, Graham began constructing complex Lego sets. His first creation was a Lego Harley-Davidson motorcycle, mirroring the bike involved in his accident.
“I built all this stuff with my finger, my thumb, and my mouth,” Graham stated. “Sometimes I will work on a technical part for hours.”
Finding Purpose
Graham emphasized that these builds provide him with motivation and a renewed sense of purpose. “They give me motivation when I’m unmotivated,” he said.
His positive attitude continues to inspire those around him. “People are always blown away by my attitude and positivity,” he added.
