Parents of Clinton motorcyclist killed in school bus crash call for increased driver awareness.

ANDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) — A motorcycle crash involving a school bus on Clinton Highway on February 17 resulted in a fatality, with charges pending against the bus driver.

James Pruitt Jr., 21, died after his motorcycle collided with a school bus at the intersection of Clinton Highway and Old State Circle. The Tennessee Highway Patrol reported that the bus, which had no children on board, was stopped at a sign and failed to yield while turning left.

Pruitt was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The bus driver sustained injuries, with investigations continuing and potential charges forthcoming.

Pruitt’s parents described him as adventurous and passionate about motorcycles since childhood. He had recently been promoted to sales manager at a car dealership and was planning to get married this year.

In the wake of the accident, the family has received significant community support. “It’s nice to hear the stories,” said Dusty Pruitt, emphasizing the impact her son’s life had on others.

James Pruitt commented on the importance of driver attention, citing ongoing concerns about motorcycle safety. “Everybody just needs to pay more attention,” he said.

A memorial motorcycle ride is scheduled in Pruitt’s honor on February 28 at 1 p.m. at Norris Dam lower parking lot. The family has also initiated a GoFundMe campaign to support memorial efforts.
