ROCKLAND — A motor vehicle crash involving a car and a motorcycle closed Park Street this evening, with the incident occurring around 5:30 p.m. on August 1.
The motorcycle operator was transported to MaineHealth Pen Bay Hospital, according to authorities. The section of Park Street from Broadway to Union Street reopened to traffic around 7:35 p.m.
Earlier in the day, Knox County law enforcement responded to multiple incidents, including four minor crashes in Rockland within approximately 45 minutes before the Downtown Main Street closure for the 10 a.m. parade. Rockland Fire, EMS, and Police arrived at Union and Summer streets around 8:25 a.m., while South Thomaston EMS provided mutual aid at 9 a.m. for another incident at Main and Park streets.
Additional crashes were reported at Broadway and Talbot at 9:05 a.m. and at Lake Avenue at 11:15 a.m. Emergency responders from Thomaston Fire Department assisted at the scene of one of the earlier crashes.
Among the Rockland incidents, there were at least two medical calls, including one related to the Maine Lobster Festival festivities.
In a separate incident, Union Fire and EMS responded to a two-vehicle crash near Union Hardware at approximately 4:40 p.m., and Warren Fire and EMS investigated a hit-and-run at about 5:45 p.m., authorities said.
