Police identify motorcyclist killed in crash after weaving in and out of traffic.

Motorcycle Accident Claims Life of 17-Year-Old in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, MO—A 17-year-old motorcyclist died in an accident on southbound Interstate 29 near NW 64th Street on Wednesday at 4:01 p.m.

According to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina, Brody J. Schleuger was riding a Kawasaki Ninja at a high rate of speed, weaving through traffic and splitting lanes. Schleuger reportedly rear-ended the trailer of a Freightliner semi, leading to his ejection from the motorcycle.

Following the impact, the motorcycle caught fire and was fully engulfed in flames. Emergency responders pronounced Schleuger dead at the scene.

All southbound lanes of Interstate 29 were closed for about three hours during the investigation, causing significant traffic delays. As of now, this marks fatality #40 for the year in Kansas City, compared to 42 fatalities at the same time last year. The accident remains under investigation by local authorities.
