AUSTIN, Texas — A fatal motorcycle crash on U.S. 183 prompted the closure of all southbound lanes from Great Hills Trail to the MoPac Expressway on Sunday morning.
The incident occurred around 6:50 a.m., leading to significant traffic delays, with backups extending to Braker Lane. Emergency responders diverted traffic to the frontage road at the Loop 360/Capital of Texas Highway exit.
According to Austin-Travis County EMS, a male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released. Two additional adults were evaluated for injuries but declined hospital transport.
Authorities confirmed that all drivers involved remained on-site and are cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
All lanes were reopened by 12:35 p.m. on Sunday.
