James Kakura Dies Six days after Motorcycle Accident in Somerset County
Somerset County, Pennsylvania (June 28, 2023) – A motorcyclist who was critically injured in a crash about a week ago in Somerset County is dead, according to Cambria County Coroner.
The motorcycle accident happened at about 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2023, along the 500 block of Tire Hill Road in Conemaugh Township.
The rider, identified as 61-year-old Conemaugh Township man James Kakura, was riding his 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle on Tire Hill Road when he crashed into a stopped 2007 Hammer near the Crows Nest.
Kakura was critically injured and was transported to Conemaugh Memorial Hospital, where he was placed in the ICU. Kakura remained in the ICU until June 26, when he succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities say the rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The incident remains under investigation.
