DETROIT – A motorcyclist crashed onto a tree after losing control on the Lodge Freeway exit ramp early Friday morning, authorities reported.
Michigan State Police were notified of the crash at 9:30 a.m. on the Wyoming Avenue exit ramp from the southbound Lodge Freeway, indicating that the incident likely occurred overnight.
The motorcyclist, traveling south, failed to navigate the curve of the exit ramp and continued straight, leading to a collision with a hillside. Excessive speed is believed to be a contributing factor, according to officials.
Witnesses stated that the rider was thrown from the motorcycle and struck a tree. Police confirmed that the man was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
While his condition remains undisclosed, authorities classified the incident as serious. The exit ramp has been closed for an ongoing investigation.
