SHELBY COUNTY, IL—A motorcycle crash on Rt. 32 in Stewardson resulted in the death of a 75-year-old man on September 14, 2026.
According to the Effingham County Coroner’s Office, Keith Rentfro was involved in a collision around 2:45 p.m. when a vehicle, driven by Patty Renner, pulled out of the Phillips 66 gas station. Rentfro, who was riding southbound on Rt. 32, was thrown from his motorcycle during the crash and was subsequently transported to HSHS St. Anthony Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:47 p.m.
Authorities said that emergency response included the Illinois State Police, Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, and Stewardson Police Department. Renner, 74, was reportedly not injured in the incident.
An autopsy is scheduled for September 16, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the McLean County Coroner’s Office in Bloomington to determine the official cause of death.
The incident is under investigation by the Effingham County Coroner’s Office, the Illinois State Police – Troop 7, and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department.
