Motorcyclist Injured in Collision with Deer in Michigan

LANSING, MI — A motorcyclist sustained serious injuries following a collision with a deer on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at approximately 6:45 p.m. on M-57 near the intersection with Post Drive in Clinton County.

According to the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, the crash involved one motorcycle. The 45-year-old male rider was transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. His current condition has not been released.

Authorities confirmed that the motorcycle was traveling eastbound when the deer unexpectedly entered the roadway. The impact caused the rider to lose control and crash.

The Sheriff’s Office, along with emergency medical services, responded to the scene. The highway was briefly closed while crews removed the vehicle and conducted an investigation.

Preliminary investigations suggest that low visibility may have contributed to the accident, as deer are more active during dawn and dusk hours. Authorities have urged motorcyclists to exercise caution, particularly in rural areas where wildlife is prevalent.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no further details have been released.
