Three Fatal Crashes Reported in Minnesota Over Weekend

Undated (MinnesotaNow) — The Minnesota State Patrol responded to three fatal crashes over the weekend, resulting in multiple injuries and fatalities.

On Saturday at 8 p.m., a head-on collision involving two pickup trucks occurred on Highway 23 near Foley, approximately 12 miles northeast of St. Cloud. 64-year-old Edward Leroy Hindermann of St. Cloud was killed in the crash. The other pickup’s driver, a 17-year-old girl from Foreston, and her passenger, 18-year-old Rihanna Kanyetzny of Oak Park, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to area hospitals.

Sunday’s first fatal incident took place just after 11 a.m. on Highway 29, 18 miles north of Alexandria. A motorcycle, operated by 45-year-old David Anderson from Miltona, collided with a southbound minivan making a left turn. Anderson was pronounced dead at an Alexandria hospital, despite wearing a helmet. The minivan driver, 90-year-old Jurlienne Ella Riedel of Parkers Prairie, and another southbound driver, 51-year-old Shane David Christensen from Ivanhoe, were unharmed.

The third deadly crash involved a motorcycle on an entrance ramp to westbound Interstate 94 in downtown Minneapolis. 21-year-old Paul Calderon Cabrera of Spring Lake Park was riding at a high rate of speed when he crashed, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, also wearing a helmet.

Authorities have not specified any ongoing investigations related to these collisions.
