Three Killed, Two Injured in Weld County Rollover Crash
WELD COUNTY, Colo. — Three people died and two were injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash Saturday at approximately 5:18 p.m.
According to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP), a Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling westbound on Weld County Road 80 at a high rate of speed when it veered off the road into a ditch, came back onto the roadway, rotated, and rolled multiple times. All passengers were ejected from the vehicle.
Jack Dirksen, 19, and Cash Rinker, 20, both from Eaton, as well as Cooper Nider, 19, from Greeley, were pronounced dead at the scene. The 20-year-old driver from Wyoming sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to a hospital. A 19-year-old male passenger from Eaton was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
CSP reported that impairment is being investigated as a potential factor in the crash, citing the presence of open and closed alcoholic beverages in the vehicle.
The eastbound lane of Weld County Road 80 was closed for approximately six hours while authorities conducted an investigation. The road reopened around 11:15 p.m.
