WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – A fatal accident on eastbound Interstate 10 in Walton County occurred Wednesday morning, resulting in one death and serious injuries.
The crash took place at approximately 11:00 a.m. near mile marker 68. A tractor-trailer driven by a 51-year-old man from Smyrna, Georgia, lost control and veered onto the south shoulder before striking a tree.
Emergency responders from Walton County Fire Rescue found the passenger, a 41-year-old man from Gaffney, South Carolina, deceased inside the cab. The driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby medical facility.
The incident prompted some lane closures while authorities conducted an investigation. No further information regarding the investigation or the condition of the driver has been released.
