Two people were killed and another injured in a head-on collision on U.S. 85 south of Lusk on Wednesday afternoon.
The crash occurred at 4:04 p.m. at milepost 147, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol.
Eighty-one-year-old Robert Robertson from the United Kingdom was a passenger in a northbound Ford F-150, whose driver crossed the centerline and collided with an oncoming Dodge Caravan driven by 85-year-old Ronald Penn from Montana. Both men were wearing seat belts but succumbed to their injuries.
The driver of the Ford F-150 sustained injuries, though the extent was not detailed in the report. An investigation is underway, with driver fatigue and a possible medical condition being considered as factors.
This incident marks the 47th and 48th fatalities on Wyoming’s roads this year, compared to 33 for the same period in 2022. It is the fourth fatal crash reported in Niobrara County this year.
