RICHLAND COUNTY, N.D. (KVRR) – Two individuals were seriously injured in a motorcycle accident on Highway 11 near Lidgerwood on May 14.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m., involving a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a 2005 Buick Park Avenue, both traveling westbound. The Buick attempted to pass the motorcycle, which subsequently entered the eastbound lane and was sideswiped, causing the motorcycle to lose control and enter the south ditch.
Both people on the motorcycle, a 49-year-old male driver and a 37-year-old female passenger, were ejected and sustained serious injuries. They were transported to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo for treatment. Neither individual was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Authorities reported that the motorcycle driver has been charged with driving under the influence and driving under suspension. The female passenger is not facing any charges. The 59-year-old driver of the Buick was uninjured and is also not facing any charges.
An investigation is ongoing, and no lane closures have been reported as a result of this incident.
