DEADWOOD, S.D. (Local News Wire) – Two Colorado residents died in a crash involving a motorcycle and a Jeep on U.S. Highway 14A on August 6.
The collision occurred around 6:27 p.m. when a Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling westbound was struck by a Harley-Davidson Street Glide motorcycle heading eastbound.
The motorcycle, operated by a 59-year-old driver with a 54-year-old passenger, failed to negotiate a curve, crossing into the westbound lane before the impact.
Both motorcyclists were pronounced dead at the scene. They were identified as residents of Frederick, Colorado.
The Jeep’s 67-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries, while a 15-year-old girl in the vehicle was unharmed.
U.S. Highway 14A was closed for about three hours following the incident.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is conducting an ongoing investigation into the crash.
