Multiple-Vehicle Collision on Highway 40 Leaves Three Injured

A multi-vehicle accident occurred on Highway 40 near mile marker 12 in Springfield at approximately 3:15 p.m. on October 3.

Authorities reported that the crash involved four vehicles, including two sedans and two pickups. Emergency responders from the Springfield Fire Department and local paramedics arrived on the scene to assist those injured.

Three individuals sustained injuries, with two transported to Springfield General Hospital in stable condition, while a third was treated at the scene. No fatalities were reported.

Emergency services closed two westbound lanes for over an hour to manage the situation and facilitate vehicle towing.

According to the Springfield Police Department, an investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing, and no citations have been issued at this time. Witnesses reported that weather conditions were clear during the incident.
