OHIO, N.Y. — A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on State Route 8 in Ohio, Herkimer County, on October 1 at approximately 2:41 p.m.
According to the New York State Police, the 21-year-old male motorcyclist from Wolcott failed to negotiate a curve while traveling northbound.
The motorcycle, a 2026 Yamaha, crossed into the southbound lane and collided with a 2019 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by a Canadian man.
After the collision, the motorcyclist left the roadway and struck a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
A drug recognition expert evaluated the tractor-trailer operator and confirmed he was not impaired.
The investigation remains ongoing, with no information on potential charges or further details about the crash released at this time.
