Wyoming Teen Killed in Motorcycle Crash North of Florence.

FLORENCE, Ore. – A 19-year-old man from Wyoming died in a motorcycle crash on Highway 101 north of Florence on Wednesday afternoon.

State police identified the victim as Ryan W. Petersmann of Laramie. The incident occurred around 2 p.m. when Petersmann was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed on a 1984 Honda motorcycle, allegedly using the center turn lane to overtake other vehicles.

Witnesses reported that the motorcycle lacked a functioning headlight, and visibility was impaired due to rain. At the same time, a 2012 Hyundai sedan, driven by a 28-year-old woman from Florence, was making a southbound turn from Sutton Lake Road onto Highway 101 when the collision occurred.

Authorities stated that the impact ejected Petersmann, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The Hyundai driver did not sustain any injuries.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not reported any lane closures as a result of the incident.
