A motorcycle collision that occurred on September 11 on Tunk Hill Road in Scituate, Rhode Island, resulted in the death of a 22-year-old man.
According to Scituate Chief of Police Eric Rollinson, emergency responders arrived at the scene around 10:00 p.m., where a motorcycle collided with a flatbed tow truck near the Potterville Fire Station.
Preliminary witness statements indicate that the motorcycle was heading westbound when the tow truck exited a driveway with its amber lights on. The rider, Douglas Larose, was unable to stop and struck the tow truck, resulting in his ejection from the motorcycle.
Larose, a resident of Foster, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The tow truck operator was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
Rhode Island State Police are assisting with the investigation, which has indicated that speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing, and no additional information is available at this time.
A memorial gathering honoring Larose’s life will be scheduled, while the family has established a GoFundMe fundraiser to assist them during this time. They request that individuals wishing to honor Larose consider donating to a local animal shelter.
