A motorcycle crash in Chariton County late Saturday, May 16, resulted in one fatality and serious injuries.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 11:20 p.m. on U.S. Route 24, eastbound, near the Chariton River bridge. A 47-year-old male operator from Brookfield lost control and ran off the roadway, resulting in both riders being ejected from the motorcycle.
A 43-year-old female passenger from Keytesville was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the crash. The operator was transported to a Columbia hospital with serious injuries.
Authorities stated it remains unclear whether either rider was using proper safety equipment at the time of the accident. The investigation is ongoing.
