Motorcyclist Alex Kenneth Arble dies in Clayton crash as officer is injured during response.

CLAYTON, N.C. (WTVD) — A motorcyclist was killed in a collision on Amelia Church Rd. in Clayton on Saturday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 1 p.m. when a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by 31-year-old Alex Kenneth Arble of Clayton collided with the rear of a Jeep Cherokee. Following the initial impact, witnesses reported Arble was ejected into oncoming traffic and was subsequently struck by a Jeep Wrangler traveling south.

Bystanders performed CPR until emergency responders from Johnston County EMS and Clayton Fire Department arrived, but Arble succumbed to his injuries, as confirmed by Clayton police.

Additionally, while responding to the motorcycle accident, a Clayton police officer was involved in a separate crash at Amelia Church Rd. and Veteran’s Parkway. The officer was treated and released from Johnston Medical Center.

The NC State Highway Patrol (NCSHP) is investigating the officer-involved accident.
