Motorcyclist Dies in Union Parish Crash
Bernice – On Friday, July 25, 2025, at 2:41 p.m., Louisiana State Police responded to a fatal motorcycle crash on U.S. Hwy 167, near Louisiana Hwy 2.
The victim, 69-year-old David Voorhies of Woodville, Mississippi, was riding a 2008 Honda motorcycle northbound when, for reasons under investigation, he lost control and struck a cattle gate.
Voorhies was wearing a DOT-approved helmet but sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Toxicology samples were collected for analysis. The investigation is ongoing, according to authorities.
Troopers urge all motorcyclists to enroll in approved safety courses to enhance riding knowledge and reduce injury risks.
