Motorcyclist killed in three-vehicle crash near St. Amant.

ST. AMANT, La. — A motorcyclist died in a three-vehicle crash on US 61 south of I-10 in Ascension Parish on Saturday, Dec. 11.

Louisiana State Police identified the motorcyclist as Nicholas Lasseigne, 32, of Paulina.

The crash occurred around 7 p.m. when Lasseigne, riding a 2016 Kawasaki Ninja, rear-ended a stopped 2017 Honda Pilot, according to Trooper Taylor Scrantz with LSP Troop A. A 2017 Nissan Versa then struck Lasseigne’s motorcycle.

Authorities reported that Lasseigne, who was wearing a DOT-approved helmet, suffered serious injuries and later died at the hospital. Both drivers in the Honda Pilot and Nissan Versa were wearing seat belts and were unharmed.

In line with protocol for fatal crashes, blood samples were collected from all three drivers and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. The investigation is ongoing.
