SEBAGO, Maine —
A motorcycle accident in Sebago left one man dead and a woman critically injured on Wednesday evening, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred around 5:50 p.m. on Convene Road near the intersection with Allen Road. A 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle traveling west crossed into the eastbound lane and collided with a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe.
Authorities identified the motorcycle operator as Ernest Poulos, 63, and his passenger, Mary Delaney, 62, both of Sebago. Neither was wearing a helmet, and both sustained life-threatening injuries. Delaney was airlifted by LifeFlight of Maine to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where she remains in critical condition. Poulos was transported by Naples Rescue to Bridgton Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe, a Stanidish resident, sustained minor injuries. Both vehicles were deemed totaled as a result of the collision.
Investigators indicated that speed may have been a contributing factor. The crash remains under investigation.
