Montcalm County EMS employee dies in motorcycle crash

Motorcycle Accident Claims Life of Montcalm County EMS Employee

SHERIDAN — Amber Barnes, 44, a long-time employee of Montcalm County Emergency Medical Services, died in a motorcycle accident Saturday morning. The incident occurred at approximately 11:25 a.m. at the intersection of Condensery Road and S. Sheridan Road (M-66).

According to Michigan State Police, Barnes was eastbound on Condensery Road when she lost control of her motorcycle while turning from M-66. She was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Emergency responders transported Barnes to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Authorities confirmed that the investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Barnes, a 1999 graduate of Greenville High School, served as the billing and accounts manager for Montcalm County EMS since June 2013. She was recognized for her contributions to the agency, described by Emergency Services Director Eric Smith as “the financial lifeblood of Montcalm County Emergency Services.”

Barnes is survived by her husband, Jason; her parents, Beverly Wilson and Dan Kinyon; her siblings, Autumn Miller, Marcie Laper, and Travis Miller; along with numerous family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hurst Funeral Home in Greenville, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Montcalm County Animal Shelter.
