Motorcyclist Dies in U.S. 41 Collision in Marion County

MARION COUNTY, FL — A 68-year-old motorcyclist from Dunnellon died Tuesday in a collision on U.S. 41 at approximately 5:15 p.m.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the motorcyclist was traveling north on U.S. 41, north of Dunnellon, when a sedan in front of him slowed to turn left onto SW 25th Place. The motorcyclist crashed into the rear of the sedan, unable to stop in time.

Both the motorcyclist and the sedan driver, a 51-year-old woman from Ocala, sustained serious injuries and were transported to the hospital, where the motorcyclist was pronounced dead. Reports indicate that he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.

Authorities confirmed this fatality marks the 13th motorcycle death in Marion County for 2026. The previous fatality occurred on July 25, involving a 59-year-old rider who was killed in a single-vehicle accident on CR 35.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
