BEAUREGARD PARISH, LA — A two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 112 near DeRidder resulted in the death of a 58-year-old motorcycle rider on April 27, 2012, at 4:10 p.m.

According to Louisiana State Police, Robert L. Willis of Leesville was traveling east on a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle at a high rate of speed when he struck the rear of a 2011 GMC Yukon driven by 43-year-old Donna Hollins of Grant, LA. After the collision, the motorcycle traveled approximately 616 feet before coming to rest.

Willis sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Hollins was uninjured in the crash. Authorities reported that Willis was attempting to evade officers from the DeRidder Police Department at the time of the incident.

Routine toxicology samples have been collected, and the crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Police remind motorists that speeding significantly impairs vehicle control and increases stopping distances, emphasizing the importance of adhering to posted speed limits for safety.
