Lockport Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash on Highway 308, According to LSP.

A 36-year-old Lockport man died Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 308, according to Louisiana State Police.

The incident occurred shortly after 6 a.m. on October 12, north of U.S. Highway 90. Preliminary investigations indicate that a 2010 Dodge Ram, traveling south, was attempting to turn left into a private driveway when it collided with a northbound 2007 Suzuki Boulevard motorcycle.

Authorities said the Dodge turned directly into the motorcycle’s path, resulting in the Suzuki striking the front quarter panel of the pickup truck. The motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Dodge was properly restrained and did not sustain any injuries.

State police confirmed the motorcyclist was wearing a U.S. Department of Transportation-approved helmet, though it was not properly secured during the accident. A toxicology sample was collected from the motorcyclist for analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.

The driver of the Dodge showed no signs of impairment and provided a breath sample, which indicated no alcohol was present, according to LSP. The investigation remains active, with Louisiana State Police Troop C managing the case.
