Natchitoches Parish, LA — A woman was killed in a three-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 6 on Friday, March 7, according to Louisiana State Police officials.
The incident occurred when Doris Nichols, 58, was making a left turn. Investigators say David Cross, 45, failed to stop and rear-ended her vehicle, pushing it into oncoming traffic where it was subsequently struck by another truck.
Nichols sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Cross was reportedly wearing his seat belt and suffered moderate injuries; he was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Authorities are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the collision. Toxicology samples have been taken, as is standard procedure in fatal accidents.
As the investigation continues, Louisiana State Police remind drivers to minimize distractions, ensure seat belt use, and avoid driving under the influence.
