A 31-year-old man from Mandeville died after a motorcycle crash on LA 40 in St. Tammany Parish on Sunday.
ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. — The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. near Mary Ellen Drive, according to Louisiana State Police. Authorities identified the victim as Jesse M. Waddell.
Troopers reported that Waddell was riding a Honda CBR600RR westbound on LA 40 at a high rate of speed when he lost control while approaching a curve. For reasons under investigation, he failed to navigate the curve and exited the roadway on the right side.
Witnesses reported that Waddell was ejected from the motorcycle and subsequently struck a tree. Authorities confirmed that he was wearing a DOT-approved helmet at the time of the crash. He was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries but later succumbed.
A toxicology sample was collected as part of the ongoing investigation, and further details will be released as they become available.
