KNOXVILLE, Ill. (KWQC) – A Monmouth man faces charges following a fatal wrong-way crash on Interstate 74 early Sunday morning.
According to Illinois State Police, Brian Boyer, 35, is charged with two counts of felony reckless homicide and two counts of felony driving under the influence.
The incident occurred around 2:10 a.m. when Boyer, driving a Chevy Malibu the wrong way on westbound I-74, collided with a motorcycle.
Authorities confirmed both the motorcycle driver and passenger were killed in the crash.
Boyer sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital; he was taken into custody upon release.
He is currently awaiting his first court appearance.
