A 43-year-old Waterville man died in a dirt bike crash in Mayfield, Somerset County, on Saturday evening.
Emergency responders received the call just after 7:15 p.m. regarding the incident on Palmer Pond Road, according to the Maine Warden Service.
Upon arrival, officials found David Pooler deceased at the scene next to his 2016 Honda CRF 450R, which was off the dirt road.
Authorities reported that Pooler was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and speed may have contributed to losing control of the bike.
Palmer Pond Road is located north of Route 16 and east of Moscow.
The investigation is ongoing, with assistance from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office and Upper Kennebec Valley Ambulance Service.
