Witness recounts the aftermath of I-41 crashes that resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries.

One person was killed and at least six others injured in multiple crashes on Interstate 41 southbound in Washington County on Monday morning.

A 57-year-old man lost control of his motorcycle, resulting in his death. As emergency crews investigated the initial incident, a semi-truck collided with several vehicles that were slowing or stopped in traffic, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

The secondary crash involved two semi-trucks and four cars, with one vehicle pinned between the trucks. One individual self-reported to the hospital, while four adults were transported by ambulance, and an infant was life-flighted to Children’s Hospital. All have potentially serious injuries.

Authorities noted that multiple agencies, including Germantown, Slinger, Hartford, Allenton, and Jackson Fire Departments, responded to the scene. Traffic was significantly delayed between Richfield and Jackson due to the incidents.

The investigation into the crashes is ongoing. No additional details have been released regarding the identities of those involved or the circumstances leading to the accidents.
