MERRILL TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A motorcycle crash in Newaygo County on Sunday resulted in the death of a 16-year-old passenger and serious injuries to the driver.
According to the Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO), deputies were dispatched just before noon to Woodbridge Drive near 8 Mile Road.
The preliminary investigation revealed the motorcycle was carrying two occupants at the time of the incident.
The passenger, a 16-year-old from Fremont, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 38-year-old male driver from Newaygo sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in Grand Rapids.
Authorities are continuing the investigation, and no further details will be released until the victim’s family is notified.
