A motorcycle crash in Bedford Township on Saturday night resulted in the death of a 48-year-old man.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:18 p.m. near the intersection of Secor and St. Anthony roads. Authorities said Clayton J. Devol, who was not wearing a helmet and riding an off-road motorcycle lacking lights, was struck while attempting to turn west onto St. Anthony Road.
Devol was thrown from the motorcycle and landed on the east side of the road, where it subsequently caught fire. The driver of a truck involved in the collision stopped on the north side of the road and was unharmed, having been wearing a seatbelt with airbags deployed during the incident.
Devol was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash. According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, alcohol is being investigated as a factor.
