JASPER COUNTY, MS (WDAM) – A traffic accident on Highway 15 injured one motorcyclist and led to a suicide on Monday evening.
Ethan Edward Sullivan, 25, of Soso, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the scene, according to Mississippi Highway Patrol Spokesman Warren Strain.
Sullivan reportedly collided with the rear of a motorcycle, then exited his vehicle and shot himself, Strain stated.
The motorcyclist sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at the scene. Witnesses confirmed the motorcyclist was slowing down due to mechanical issues when Sullivan’s truck struck from behind.
Family members indicated the motorcyclist was preparing to turn onto a side road when the incident occurred.
Mississippi Highway Patrol responded, and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation was called in to handle the case.
Strain noted that the preliminary autopsy report corroborated details from the scene, confirming Sullivan’s cause of death. The investigation remains ongoing.
