Motorcycle Rider Airlifted to Local Hospital Following Accident in Lemmon Valley.

Fire Weather Watch Issued for Western Nevada and Eastern Lassen County on Saturday

A Fire Weather Watch is in effect from Saturday morning to Saturday evening across Western Nevada and Eastern Lassen County due to gusty winds and low humidity, according to the National Weather Service.

Impacted areas include Fire Weather Zones 278, 420, 423, 429, and 458, encompassing regions such as Carson City, Douglas, and Northern Washoe County. Winds are expected to range from 15 to 25 mph, with gusts potentially reaching up to 40 mph. Humidity levels could drop as low as 10 percent.

The watch is effective for 4–8 hours, between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. PDT on Saturday. Authorities caution that the combination of high winds and low humidity increases the risk of rapid fire growth, making it challenging for first responders to contain possible blazes.

Residents are advised to avoid outdoor activities that could ignite sparks near dry vegetation, such as yard work, target shooting, or campfires. Local fire restrictions should be followed. For updates, visit weather.gov/reno and for preparedness tips, check livingwithfire.info.
