Nebraska woman is 2nd motorcyclist fatal at Sturgis rally
STURGIS, S.D. — A Nebraska woman died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash at the Sturgis motorcycle rally, marking the second fatality this week.
According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, 59-year-old Debra Milota of Omaha was traveling west on U.S. 14A, west of Lead, on Tuesday afternoon. She reportedly failed to navigate a curve and crossed into the path of an eastbound motorcycle, resulting in a collision.
Milota was pronounced dead on Friday in Rapid City; she was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident. The two riders on the other motorcycle sustained minor injuries and were also wearing helmets.
Earlier in the week, a 29-year-old man died in a motorcycle crash south of Lead. Additionally, an Omaha man was found dead in his motor home on Tuesday, with authorities citing apparent carbon monoxide poisoning. The rally is scheduled to conclude on Sunday.
