VANDERBILT, MI — A motorcycle accident claimed the life of a 76-year-old man on September 26.
According to the Michigan State Police, troopers from the Gaylord Post responded to the incident at approximately 12:20 p.m. on Sparr Road near Johnson Crossing Grade in Dover Township.
Preliminary findings indicate the man was part of a group of motorcycles traveling eastbound when he lost control after veering onto the gravel shoulder. The motorcycle rolled several times before coming to a halt.
Emergency medical personnel transported the rider to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Authorities have stated that speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.
The scene was assisted by the Otsego County Fire Department and Otsego County EMS. No lane closures were reported, and an investigation is ongoing.
