Vermont Actor Treat Williams Dies in Motorcycle Accident

DORSET, Vt. – Treat Williams, 71, passed away on Monday following a motorcycle accident on Route 30 around 5 p.m., according to authorities.

The collision involved Williams’ motorcycle and a 2008 Honda SUV, allegedly driven by an unidentified individual turning left into a parking lot. Witnesses reported that Williams was thrown from his motorcycle upon impact.

Emergency responders transported Williams to Albany Medical Center in New York, where he was pronounced dead. He had been airlifted following the crash and was reportedly conscious and alert until medical aid arrived. The driver of the SUV sustained minor injuries but was not hospitalized.

The Vermont State Police are investigating the incident. Authorities indicated the driver was not impaired and had signaled prior to the turn. No charges have been filed as the investigation continues.

Williams, an acclaimed actor, was admired in Hollywood since the late 1970s. Sources close to the actor expressed shock and grief over his passing, noting his passion for both acting and life.
