Motorcyclist Dies in Two-Vehicle Crash on I-70.

RUSSELL COUNTY — A fatal crash between a motorcycle and a car occurred Thursday at about 11 a.m. on Interstate 70, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The KHP reported a westbound 2023 Hyundai Sonata, driven by 33-year-old Zane Daniel Foster of Topeka, collided with a 2002 Kawasaki motorcycle, operated by 72-year-old Richard J. Rockwell of Warren, Ohio. Rockwell entered the highway from the shoulder and was struck by the Hyundai approximately three miles west of the Kansas 232 Wilson exit.

Rockwell was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Pohlman Funeral Home. Foster and his two passengers, including a one-year-old, were properly restrained and uninjured. Rockwell was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, authorities said.

No lanes were closed as a result of the crash, and the investigation is ongoing, KHP officials confirmed.
