KANSAS DRIVER KILLED IN CRASH NEAR MIAMI
MIAMI, Okla. (KOAM) – A single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 59 claimed the life of a Kansas driver on April 6, 2026.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at 2:14 p.m., approximately 0.4 miles west of County Road S 540, roughly 2 miles southwest of Miami.
Investigators report the vehicle was traveling eastbound when it veered off the right side of the roadway, struck a mailbox, and hit an embankment. The vehicle then became airborne, hit the embankment a second time, overturned, and caught fire.
Authorities identified the driver as Ashley L. Vinson, 56, from Parsons, Kansas. She was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no passengers in the vehicle, and seat belts were in use. Next of kin has been notified.
Emergency responders are on-site, and the roadway may experience brief closures as the investigation continues.
The crash remains under investigation.
