A motorcycle driver died Thursday in a hospital following a crash with a semi truck on Truman Road in Kansas City earlier this week.
The incident occurred Monday around 4:14 p.m. on Truman Road, west of Lister Avenue. According to police, a Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling east when it collided with the rear of a U.S. Postal Service semi truck that was stopped in the roadway.
The impact ejected the motorcycle operator, who was subsequently transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Authorities confirmed the driver was pronounced dead on Thursday, though his identity has not been released.
The truck driver reported no injuries. This crash marks Kansas City’s 27th traffic death of the year, compared to 24 fatalities at the same time last year, according to Officer Alayna Gonzalez.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
