YORK, S.C. (WBTV) – One person died and another was critically injured in a three-vehicle collision on US 321 Bypass on Sunday at 12:20 p.m.
According to York Police, the crash involved a motorcycle and two SUVs near California Street.
A Harley Davidson motorcycle, carrying a driver and passenger, was traveling south on US 321 when it collided with a Ford Escape driven by a man who was attempting to cross the bypass from California Street.
Police reported that the motorcycle struck the right side of the Escape, which then collided with a Ford Expedition stopped at a stop sign.
Both individuals on the motorcycle were ejected, resulting in the driver’s fatal injuries. His passenger was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
Authorities confirmed that the driver of the Escape received a citation for failure to yield the right of way. The identities of those involved have not been released pending notification of next of kin.
The incident prompted lane closures while emergency responders managed the scene. An investigation is ongoing.
