PARIS, Maine — A 33-year-old man from Mexico died following a motorcycle crash on Park Street on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.
According to authorities, Carleton Merrill was riding a 2025 Kawasaki motorcycle southbound when he attempted to pass another vehicle. He lost control while trying to avoid a collision with another vehicle.
Merrill veered off the road and struck an embankment, sustaining critical injuries. He was transported to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities indicated that speed appears to be a contributing factor in the crash. This incident marks the second motorcycle-related fatality in Paris within the past month.
